Testimonials
I wanted to let you know how much Evan loves his lessons with you and how much they mean to him... the world!  He looks forward to them every week.  We were a bit nervous going into our Bantam season, but you have been able to instill confidence by improving his strategy, technique and speed and it shows in his games... rumor has it he may get called up to the A's to substitute if needed!  We are appreciative of the personal touch in taking the time to arrange schedules so that he can be with his teammates.  All three have blossomed under your tutelage.  They make an awesome line and are a joy to watch!
--Sincerely, Evelyn Fassett

Hi Mike, We want to thank you for all you have done to help our son, Trey, grow as a skater.  In one lesson, he developed more than he had in a season's worth of practices.  Your approach is both kid-friendly and results-oriented.  We are so glad we found you and look forward to Trey continuing to develop his skills.
--Thank you, Dana and Rob Wallace

Mike Kingston, from the Cutting Edge is the best kind of coach, the kind that respects kids!  He believes that all kids, regardless of age or ability, CAN improve.  He has not only improved my (13 yo) son's skating/playing ability in a relatively short period of time, but has taught him so many other life lessons as well.  Nate so appreciates Mike's enthusiasm and the genuine respect Mike shows towards him.  As a result he has learned so much more than just hockey skills/knowledge, he has gained confidence, discipline, and how good it feels to work hard and see results!  Nate says he has fun at lessons and really likes that Mike clearly explains both how to do each skill as well as why it's important or how it applies to a game situation.  Mike has a vast knowledge of the game, at every level, but to be able to pass on that knowledge, by finding what works for each player, is a unique talent.  Thank you Mike!

Allison DiPrato made the Connecticut Northern Lights U-12, Tier 1, Silver team. There is no doubt in my mind that she made this team because of the skating and skills sessions she took at The Cutting Edge. 45-50 players tried out for Northern Lights two U-12 teams. Allison really showed the Silver head coach that she could skate with the best players on the ice. Don, Paul and other instructors prepared Allison very well for these try outs. Thanks for your help in readying Allison for upper level girls hockey.

"As a former NHL Player and amateur coach that over the last 20 years has had the pleasure to see over 200 young players from programs at Champions Skating Center progress on to NCAA Ice-Hockey programs and beyond, I know how important a strong fundamental skill set is vital to success in hockey.  As many of you know, Mike is a leader in the skill development area and I know all players will benefit immensely from his fast paced, enthusiastic and supportive coaching style and lessons.  He has a long history of success as a cutting edge hockey coach and innovator.

"Mike guaranteed us we would see significant improvement in my son's skating after 4 lessons.  I couldn't believe the difference!  It was like Brody had been skating for years.  Brody started hockey at the age of 10 and if it wasn't for Mike and his staff, he wouldn't be where he is today."

"We asked Mike to give our nine-year old daughter, Kit, some lessons to help her prepare for her upcoming Squirt tryouts.  To say that we have been impressed would be an understatement.  In a matter of weeks, Kit's skating, and overall, game playing had improved tremendously.  Mike's expertise and years of coaching are evident in watching him work with her on her skating, edging, stick handling, and shooting.  All of these things together helped Kit to become a stronger, smarter, and more confident player.  What we really liked about Mike was that he gave Kit things to work on off the ice.  For example, she had a half-hour homework a day on stick handling.  Additionally, he gave her some simple weight exercises to help build her strength which would improve her shooting.  When Kit's grandfather asked her to describe Mike she used the adjectives "motivating, caring, and unforgettable"... we couldn't agree more!"

"Thank You Coach Mike for helping me practice because i made the squirt A team.  I couldn't of done it without you."

"My 2 sons have been working with Mike Kingston for a couple of years.  Their skating and stick work skills have greatly improved due to Mike's ability to break down the basic skills and constant repetition of those skills.  Mike is a great teacher because he is patient and positive in his delivery.  My boys love working with Mike."
--Terri Ziemnicki, Hockey Mom and 27 year High School Varsity Coach.

"My sons, ages 6 and 8, had only been on the ice 3 times and could barely stand up before they started with Mike.  I was amazed that they were moving around confidently after a couple of lessons!  What a great way to introduce them to hockey - they keep asking me when their next ice time is!"
--Trevor S.

"PROGRESSION!  That is the word that comes to mind when I think of The Cutting Edge.  The Cutting Edge provides each student with the concepts and direction to improve their skating and overall hockey skills.  Mike and his staff go out of their way to create an environment that allows their students to make real skill PROGRESSION, while still keeping it fun and interesting!  Their style of teaching provides explanation, guidance and accountability to improve.  I noticed PROGRESSION in my boys after only a few lessons.  In fact I was so happy with the results that my boys will remain students of The Cutting Edge for many sheets-of-ice to come!"

"Thanks for helping to get Jake & Ryan ready for this season.  I have had numerous people come up to me and remark about how much their skating has improved.  I know they have fun at the lessons and I know it is helping them.  Just wanted you to know it is very much appreciated!"

"Since working with the Cutting Edge, our son has shown remarkable improvement in his technical aspects of skating and stick handling.  These drills have translated to more confidence, stronger stability, and faster speed during game play.  Most importantly to us as parents, the instructors take the time needed to get to know the children individually in order to keep them focused, engaged and having fun."
--Lisa and Scott Percival, Avon/Windsor/Farmington High School Coach

"Our son, Luke, began lessons with The Cutting Edge when he was in the DP program about 2 years ago.  Right off the start, we found Mike Kingston to be extremely competent in the sport of hockey, efficient, and very patient and outgoing.  His communication skills are excellent in regards to both parent and player.  In the past two years, Luke's skating, stick handling and speed have improved greatly and we credit the extra time and individualized attention the staff at The Cutting Edge has given him.  We highly recommend The Cutting Edge!"
--Kara and Jason Pisani

"Thanks to The Cutting Edge, both of our boys' skating and hockey skills have progressed in a relatively short period of time beyond our expectations.  Working with Mike and his coaches in a learn to play group, a skills camp group and private lesson format has provided our boys with a great foundation and the opportunity for maintenance and growth of their skating and playing mechanics."
